Give a little time. Make a BIG difference

11 Apr 2026

Every year, Relay For Life Wexford comes to life because of people just like you,  people who show up, lend a hand, and make something truly special happen.

We know that not everyone can commit to a full team or 24-hour participation… and that’s exactly where volunteering comes in.

A Few Hours Can Go a Long Way

Whether you can give as little as 4 hours or a bit more across the weekend, your time can make a real impact. Volunteering offers a flexible way to be part of Relay, supporting the event in a way that fits around your life.

Our 24-hour event doesn’t just start on the day, it begins at least the day before, as we prepare the site to welcome our incredible community.

So, What Would You Be Doing?

There’s something for everyone, and every task matters. You might find yourself:

  • Helping manage event logistics behind the scenes
  • Bringing our Relay “village” to life as tents arrive
  • Supporting our candle bag teams as we line the pitch with over 5,000 candle bags in numerical order (no mean feat!), creating a truly moving and unforgettable moment as night falls.
  • Keeping the site clean and welcoming throughout the event
  • Being on hand to help with questions, or simply being the smiling face someone needs on Sunday morning.
  • Helping us pack down and return the pitch just as we found it, with a strong “leave no trace” ethos

Creating Something Special for Our Survivors

At the heart of Relay are our Survivors,  the true VIPs of our event. Each year, we transform their marquee into something really special, with thoughtful themes and touches designed to uplift, comfort, and celebrate. It’s about turning a simple space into somewhere that feels warm, welcoming, and full of care. From decorating and styling to those small finishing details, this is one of the most meaningful ways volunteers can make a difference — helping create a space that truly reflects the strength and spirit of those we honour.

A Great Opportunity to Come Together

Volunteering is also a fantastic way to meet new people, make friends, and have fun while being part of something meaningful.

We are a very inclusive community and warmly welcome volunteers from all backgrounds,  because cancer knows no borders, neither do we! Even if your English isn’t very strong, you are more than welcome. Think of this as a chance to meet like-minded people who will support and encourage you, and an opportunity to build confidence while being part of your local community.

It’s also a great opportunity for:

  • Local businesses to support on the Friday as we prepare.
  • Community groups to come together and take a few hours to give back.
  • Friends, families, and colleagues to share a meaningful experience.
  • New to the area? Come meet some of the friendliest (and most epic!) locals around 💜

Who Can Volunteer?

As a general guide, volunteers should be over 18, but younger volunteers are very welcome when accompanied by an adult.

Why It Matters

Volunteers are the heartbeat of Relay. You help create the atmosphere, support the experience, and ensure everything runs smoothly for those walking, remembering, celebrating, and giving back.

Quite simply, we couldn’t do it without you. We’d Love to Hear From You. If you’ve been looking for a way to get involved, this is for you! Give a little time. Be part of something powerful.
