Where and when is Relay For Life Kilternan this year?
What is the Round Ireland Cycle Relay?
- Cancer never sleeps, so neither do we! In this 24 hour event individuals and teams join together to cycle and walk through the day and night.
- Our goal is to cycle the combined distance around Ireland of 2300 km.
- Members of teams cycle a designated time, with individuals, families and survivors able to join throughout the 24 hours also.
- When not walking, teams, friends, families and colleagues are free to socialise, enjoy live entertainment and take part in activities arrange throughout the 24 hours.
What is the schedule for the event?
- 1pm Opening Ceremony
- 2pm Survivors Soup & Sandwiches
- 6pm Supporters Cycle and Live Music
- 9pm Candle of Hope Ceremony
- 10pm Night Shift for the Night Nurses
- 5am Sunrise - We Rise
- 9am Family Fun
- 1pm Closing Ceremony
What is a Candle Bag and Candle of Hope Ceremony?
Candle bags can be purchased online or at the event and can be decorated or named in honor of someone lost to or going through cancer. Your bag will be displayed at our Candle of Hope ceremony taking place at dusk on the 20th June which everyone is invited to attend.

What will my donation support?
Your donation will help raise vital funds for the Irish Cancer Society who support Cancer patients and their families. See here for more information on supports and services provided by Irish Cancer Society
What is the cut off date for purchasing candle bags?
There isn't really a cut off date. As well as being available on the day of the event, we will normally have a day to sell candle bags in the weeks before the event too. Keep an eye on social media for updates.
Team Questions
What is the team challenge?
How much is it to enter a team?
There is no team entry fee, we just ask teams to seek to raise €100 or more per team member but any amount is welcome!
How many members does each team need?
Teams of 4 or more people can be made up from families, friends, business, clubs, groups, schools etc - all are welcome. There are 4 bikes per team and each team can include cyclists and supporters - not everyone needs to cycle but each team keeps the pedals turning and helps to raise money and awareness.
How far does each team need to cycle?
There is no distance target for each team just an overall target of 2300km or <100 km per hour (across 6 bikes)
