My Relay for Life event

I’m raising funds to support cancer patients and their families across Ireland. You can show your support too, by making a donation to my page today.

This year I'm taking part in the UCD event at UCD Athletics Track, UCD Belfield Campus. An amazing community event that will take place over 24 hours.

I’m fundraising for a great cause

Funds raised from this event will support vital support services for people living with cancer. These much needed funds will help the Irish Cancer Society continue to provide Night Nurses, Volunteer Drivers, a freephone Support line, counselling sessions, fund life changing research & much more.

Your help today, will help to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families, together we can ensure that no-one has to go through their cancer journey alone.

Why Relay for Life Matters to Me – As a Student Nurse

Why Relay for Life Matters to Me – As a Student Nurse

Next week, I’ll be taking part in UCD Relay for Life in support of the Irish Cancer Society — and I wanted to share why this cause means so much to me, both personally and professionally.

As a student nurse, it’s often the small things — helping someone get comfortable, having a chat, making a difficult day a little easier. Those everyday moments really stay with you, and they’ve completely changed how I see life and what truly matters.

What struck me most is that cancer doesn’t just affect one person. It ripples through families, friendships, and entire support systems. You start to realise very quickly that nursing isn’t just about treating illness — it’s about caring for people in some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

But beyond the hospital setting, cancer has touched my life in more personal ways too. Like so many others, I’ve seen its impact on people I care about. It’s a reminder that this isn’t just a clinical issue — it’s something that affects all of us, in one way or another.

That’s why events like Relay for Life are so important. They’re about remembering those we’ve lost, supporting those who are fighting, and standing in solidarity with everyone affected. They’re about hope, resilience, and community.

As a future nurse, I know I’ll continue to encounter cancer throughout my career. But being part of something like this reminds me why I chose this path in the first place — to care, to support, and to make even a small difference.

If you’re in a position to donate or share, I would really appreciate it. Every contribution helps support vital services, research, and care for those affected by cancer.

Thank you 💛
