I’m raising funds to support cancer patients and their families across Ireland. You can show your support too, by making a donation to my page today.

This year I'm taking part in the Sligo event at ATU Sligo, Ash Lane, Ballytivnan, Co. Sligo. An amazing community event that will take place over 24 hours.

I’m fundraising for a great cause

Funds raised from this event will support vital support services for people living with cancer. These much needed funds will help the Irish Cancer Society continue to provide Night Nurses, Volunteer Drivers, a freephone Support line, counselling sessions, fund life changing research & much more.

My reasons for taking part

Most people who know me will already know that my mother was cruelly taken from us a few days after Christmas 1981 at the age of 38. 
She had fought so hard for almost 5 years. All she ever wanted was to see her 2 children grow up but she never got that chance.
Numerous surgeries, multiple trips to St Vincent's in Dublin for treatment and still the cancer won. 
Thanks to research and huge advances in modern medicine, more & more people are winning the battle nowadays, but there are still far too many people who don't, so we need to continue to find new technologies and medicines. 
As Katrina & Grainne have shown, early detection is key. 
Please, please, please go for your mammogram, smear test, bowel screening, prostate checks etc. 
Trust your own instincts and if something feels wrong, please get it checked out straight away. 
Doctors would far rather see you early and have it turn out to be nothing than the alternative.
